Dating the Cerne Abbas Giant

In March 2020, in the week before Covid restrictions, National Trust archaeologists and volunteers embarked on a quest to date the Cerne Abbas Giant. The archaeological fieldwork took place in the centenary year of the gift of this imposing and infamous chalk figure to National Trust. This is the story of what was found in the heart of the Dorset countryside, as the nation prepared for lockdown.
