This talk follows the history of button making as a local cottage industry, from its origins in Shaftesbury in the 1600s to its eventual demise two hundred years later. Our speaker will explain what is happening now to help keep this heritage craft vibrant and will show some original examples of Dorset buttons from her own collections.
