The Dorset Record Society launches a new publication at this event.

Dr. Tim Connor explores the lives of young women in the 1720s through a fascinating collection of personal letters — in particular those of Elizabeth Young of Church Farm, Trent, whose family founded the school in the village. He reveals what these remarkable documents tell us about everyday life, friendships, society and travel in Sherborne and London during the Georgian Period.

About the speaker: Following a career in education, Dr. Tim Connor DPhil FSA relocated to Dorset and has since developed a strong interest in the county’s heritage. He serves on the Editorial Board of Somerset & Dorset Notes and Queries and is actively involved with the Dorset Historic Churches Trust and the Dorset Record Society. His comprehensive history of the Mapperton Estate (2021) was commissioned by the Earl and Countess of Sandwich.
